This painting was inspired by a rock outcropping next to our cabin. Wild plums are common here. This is the first painting I was able to do after my eye operation. Before the operation my eyesight had gone from 20/200 in 2 eyes to having a blind eye and an eye that saw only blurry blobs and little color. That vision was 20/1600. Now thanks to a brilliant and wise eye surgeon, Dr Kreiger, at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, I now can see 20/70 in one eye. I can now drive in a limited, but legal manner, and best of all I can pick up any book, or hike down any trail. No more do I need the white cane or braille. It was a 28 year struggle, which my partner, Bruce, took on. The surgery was completed in '00.
