Lupine, Goldfields, Lomatia and other wildflowers love the sandstone outcrops that stud the land around Hunter Ligget military base. The Los Padres Nat. For. boarders the base, and you're allowed to drive through it for access. There are few places that have such big fields of lupine, their fragrance nearly overwhelming.
This piece is a memory of my visit. You can see a little water seep in the lower left of this work. I have tried to portray what I experienced sitting on a big flat rock, eating lunch and gazing on this rocky outcrop and wildflower vista.
